Born in São Paulo in 1987, Lud Mônaco is a screenwriter & director whose work explores the female universe. With a poetic and intimate approach, she portrays women in stories of adventure, freedom, love and above all sisterhood. She studied film at the Barcelona Film School (ECIB) and her graduation project 'Para, pero sigue' was awarded best short film at the Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival.
Her work has been featured in major festivals, such as the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, Mix Brasil and Sitges Film Festival. She has also been selected for the Berlinale Talents, a platform organised by the Berlin International Film Festival. Lud Mônaco is currently developing her debut feature film, a tragicomedy set in Portugal. The project has re-cently been granted a 250K production fund from Portugal’s Film Insti-tute (ICA). Lud has just released 'Storytelling for Short Film Screenplays' - a course produced by the creative platform DOMESTIKA.
Based in Barcelona, Lud Mônaco is commercially represented by Albiñana Films.
